On Sunday, September 30, let's come together to celebrate peace with yoga and 108 Sun Salutations at the Botanical Garden here in Athens. Meditators and chanters are welcome! No need to do the physical postures.
Event begins at 5:30pm (volunteers will need to be here around 2:30-3pm for set up, and it would be helpful if they can stick around afterward for clean up; can confirm this time soon if needed) . Patty Pinckney and other yoga instructors from local studios Flower Garden Lawn
CELEBRATION – UNITY – JOY – PEACE – NATURE
Celebrate Nature, the change of season, and National Yoga Month with this ancient and powerful practice. A Sun Salutation is a series of 12 linked yoga poses. It is said to detoxify, massage and stimulate every organ in the body. For the mind and spirit, the benefits are many - calms the mind and connects you with your own breath and soul. The number 108 has a variety of historical, spiritual, scientific and mathematical meanings. One of them being: 1=your singular nature, 0=emptiness of thought, and 8=infinity/endless possibilities. Yoga practitioners all over the world gather to celebrate the Autumn Equinox. Now, Athens is joining in! The autumnal equinox practice symbolizes the intent of letting go of what no longer serves our purpose. Like the trees in this season, we can unburden ourselves and let go of the old.
