This 15th year of service in Athens Georgia was beautiful from kick-off to load-up! The students and locals navigated in symbiosis, were self starters and they worked hard with the utmost respect for clearing the ancient pathways and sacred resting places of the 3,000 plus citizens that contributed to the growth and development of this community before us!
I had such an amazing time working on this service project! I'm new to Athens so this was my first year participating, but it certainly won't be my last. I met some really passionate people and I look forward to more service opportunities. Thank you to all that helped make this event happen!
A wonderful experience and one I hope to return to this year. Thanks for the opportunity.
I showed up to volunteer because I truly desired to spend part of my Martin Luther King Day serving my community. I not only helped to beautify the highway, but I helped the environment, meet new people, and saw people of all ages, races, and cultures come together for a greater good. I felt peaceful, accomplished, and empowered afterward.
It was good to be back with ServeUGA! I especially loved how serene it was to plant flowers on a Monday morning, and how appreciative some of the oncoming drivers were of our work! Also I got to serve with Alexandra Case and that made me happy :)
It was a extremely fun event. From the kickoff, the energy was great and speeches really had me appreciating the purpose of providing service to the community. The staff was very helpful and an overall amazing experience.
