Trash pick up on property of resident who contacted us for help. Included glass bottles, tires, and large shingles.
Called Mr. Johnson, who owns property that had collected trash over the years. Confirmed with him that we could come assist with trash pick up on February 9. Researched guidelines for the GDBG Grant. Searched for organizations that help renters with utilities.
Came in the office and did some brief research on the policies of the grants we are receiving. Returned tools from the MLK Day of Service.
Started the day at Cedar Shoals High School. Met volunteers at the firehouse, where we assigned them the house they would be working with. I was the site leader for a home on Lyndon Ave. Volunteers worked on filling wholes where animals were living, replacing the ceiling in the bedroom, fixing the screen door, and repairing the air conditioning unit.
Finalized plans for MLK Day of Service. Visited one final location that may be considered for the event. Confirmed problems to address at each location. Discussed how the event would be managed. How volunteers would be divided between each house and what roles they would have.
We worked on sorting through applications for home repairs through Hands on Athens. We tried to narrow down the houses we wanted to add to the MLK Day of Service. We also reached out to contractors to see who would be willing to volunteer.
