About
Are You a Student Looking for Life Experiences?
Elara Caring is looking for passionate volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
Hospice is specialized care to provide support for you and your family during advanced illness. Elara Caring focuses on comfort and quality of life rather than curative care— our passion is to enable you to live each day as fully as possible. Hospice is not about giving up, it is about getting help. Hospice gives individuals the opportunity to make their own decisions about how and where they wish to live the remainder of their lives, while continuing to receive an exceptional level of compassionate care from our dedicated family of health care professionals.
We are looking for volunteers in a variety of areas!
- Companion Visits: Spend time with a patient in our care. There is no medical care involved with these weekly visits. Hours are very flexible (weekdays, evenings or weekends) and typically 1-2 hours per week.
- Veteran visits: be a listening ear to those who have served our country and have the chance to thank them in person for their service by spending quality time as a companion.
- Assist with various Elara Caring events, including attending local fairs, college recruitment events, or helping with special events. Times and dates of events vary, though most occur during business hours. A volunteer who sees patients can also help during these specialized events too!
- Artists & crafters welcome! Portrait artists, photographers, quilters, sewers!
- Administrative/office needs and calls
Please contact your local Elara Caring Volunteer Coordinator, Kate Lankey, for additional information at 419-461-8183 or klankey@elara.com
Working with our patients requires fingerprinting and a background check, along with TB testing (test only) for companion volunteers. Very simple process!
